Udyog Aadhar is known as Aadhaar for Business. It’s a twelve-digit Unique Identification Number Provided by the Government of India through the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, for small and medium enterprises in India. Number A recognition certificate is also provided by Government along with Unique identification Number
Udyog Aadhaar scheme was launched in September 2015 by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises under Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, To promote micro, small and medium enterprises.
Registering for Udyog Aadhaar is absolutely free.
The registration with MSME can be done in two ways
- one is online and
- the other one is offline.
Udyog Aadhar can be obtained by every type of business. It may be Hindu Undivided Family, Proprietorship, one-person company, Partnership Firm, production company, limited company, private limited company, limited liability partnership, co-operative societies, or any association of persons or any other undertaking.
Udyog Aadhaar number is not mandatory.
The Small and Medium firm Who has Udyog Aadhar can apply for a current Bank Account.
Udyog Aadhar is also considered as a Business registration certificate for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
There is no expiry date for Udyog Aadhar Certificate.
Udyog Aadhar Eligibility
Business entities which are eligible to apply for Udyog Aadhar are classified on the basis of investment made in plant and machinery (as per the table below)

Udhyog Aadhar registration process
Before starting the registration process one must keep Aadhaar Information handy. If you do not have your Aadhaar, visit an Aadhaar enrolment center and apply for it. After receiving it follow the below-mentioned steps:
- The very first step is to Log on to the official website https://udyogaadhaar.gov.in/UA/UAM_Registration.aspx.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and name in the fields labeled ‘Aadhaar Number’ and ‘Name of Entrepreneur’.
- Then click on ‘Validate and Generate OTP’.
- Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile.
- On successful verification, you will be redirected to a form.
- All the appropriate fields like ‘Name of Enterprise’ and ‘Type of Organisation’ should be filled. (Attention should be paid while filling the ‘National Industry Classification Code’ and ‘Major Activity’.)
- After completion, please recheck the data to ensure that there are no errors.
- Click on ‘Submit’.
- Then you will receive another OTP on your registered mobile number.
- Click the final ‘Submit’ button to complete the application.

- Name of business

- National Industrial Classification code
- Number of persons employed
